THE 131: Acting I (Spring 2026)

  • Agnes Scott College (map)

The objective of this course is to acquaint the student(s) with the performative art and practice of acting for the stage.  This is accomplished through an in-depth study of exercises and activities that prepare you to read scripts as an actor, audition for plays, and develop a character when you are cast in a production of a play. The course is active, experiential, and physical. It is designed challenge students intellectually and physically, since the “tools” we work with as actors are our bodies, our voices, our imaginations, and our emotions. The student(s) will apply knowledge from readings, lectures, discussions, and exercises to hypothetical, “real-world” examples of acting in a controlled classroom environment.
